Exploring the environment, observing objects around her, looking for organic cuts and observing masts and sails that sailed into a photographed sea, allows her to build in blues, reds and oxides, her breathtaking universe, the imaginary everyday of Rosa Permanyer. She trained as an artist, starting with the study of Interior Design at Escola d’Arts i Oficis de Barcelona and several workshops at the Escola Eina d’Art i Disseny. She began her teaching career as a founding lecturer of the Taller d’Art Manolo Hugué in Caldes de Montbui, where since 1980 she has given etching classes to children, young people and adults; she also currently teaches etching courses at the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc in Barcelona. Her practice is characterized by independent learning and self-teaching. Her work does not limit itself to just an interpretive production but explores the limits of the technique, researching in the field of watercolour, material and photoengraving. More than mastering the water on paper technique and the new non-toxic etching procedures, she goes on to research new approaches to formulae which respect the environment and that in turn have greater potential as a method of expression. The innovation in these combined techniques, from watercolour and etching, have enabled Rosa to represent Catalonia, exhibiting in countries like South Korea, Mexico, Colombia, Italy, Belgium, Sweden, Argentina and Finland.
